A Picturesque Stay with a Few... Quirks
My stay at this charming hotel in the heart of beautiful Valbonne was, for the most part, a lovely experience. The hotel is truly picturesque, with good-sized rooms and stunning, recently renovated bathrooms. The staff were all incredibly kind and welcoming, which made for a great first impression.
However, once the sun sets, a different story begins. The pigeons outside the balcony seem to have a nightly convention right outside the window, and their cooing is a lot more insistent than one might expect. Even with the windows closed, their persistent serenading makes for a challenging night's sleep.
Then there's the bed. I've heard of race cars having excellent suspension, but I believe the engineers at Ferrari F1 could learn a thing or two from the bed in my room. A simple roll-over becomes a voyage across the mattress, and trying to sit up to read a book is a truly dynamic experience; the backrest acts as a lever, launching you toward the opposite wall.
Add to this the thin doors and a very noisy staircase, and a good night's rest becomes a genuine challenge. While the hotel can't be blamed for inconsiderate guests, the combination of all these factors makes sleeping here feel like a competitive sport.
It's a real shame, as the hotel itself is so charming, clean, and well-maintained. I can only hope that other rooms have a more peaceful pigeon situation and a bed that stays firmly on the floor. While I didn't get a wink of sleep, it's still a beautiful place to visit... if you're not planning on resting.

Love this hotel. No, it’s not the Ritz but the location is wonderful, the staff are too. Our room 1611 was a fabulous corner room overlooking the busy, buzzy square. Valbonne is very beautiful, laid back and cute. We didn’t include breakfast and perhaps we should have. A bar and upstairs terrace would have added to our experience

I paid for a prestige room. The MOST EXPENSIVE room. |I was NOT GIVEN A PRESTIGE ROOM. |Instead I was shoved into the attic room, called a family room with No windows other than a skylight. ||I am a single older woman. ||Apparently they thought because I was American, and there was a wedding party here, that I was with them and the room wouldn't matter!! ||I wanted the lovely prestige room I saw on their web, wirh a window , and all amenities of a prestige room. ||What I got was a room an artic room with 3 beds. Sparse. I've stayed at Holiday Inns with more luxuries and at 1/3 the price. ||Over $700 for an attic, no windows to look out of. ||Immensely disappointed. Would not recommend or ever stay here again. ||If you book a room, contact them immediately and ensure you will be getting the room you saw, and paid for.

We have just returned from a week long stay at this hotel in Valbonne and are glad we did not choose anywhere else. The rooms have just been renovated and re-vamped, the décor is fresh and bright. Plenty of tea and coffee and bathrooms are stocked with everything you may need. Very impressed with the helpfulness of all staff. It is right on the maket square but we had no problem with noise in fact we left the window open most of the time just to hear the conversations outside and the laughter of people enjoying themselves. The restaurant next immediately door is really a good place to eat or have a beer - again really friendly attentive staff. There is a market on Friday which goes down the side streets as well and has a good variety of food and linens, antiques, crafts etc. So really this hotel is the best for enjoying the mornings - by the way the breakfast is optional but good and plenty of it and can either be taken inside or out - lunchtimes and evenings are there to watch the world go by. Just out of interest the bus service to Sophia is good and from there you can get to just about anywhere - and really cheap. We had hired a car but didn't use it that much - parking is free all around the village/town. We will definitely be back.

We had a very nice stay for 5 night this summer. Great location and very beautiful building and room. The morning breakfast in the outside table was wonderful with croissant, fresh bread and homemade marmalades. The people working there was nice and helpful, and the price was really good for the days we stayed. We will definitely come back. Great choice.

Stay at this hotel was a lovely experience. An old castle, on the Valbonne Market square, converted into a modern hotel. Staffed by lovely people always eager to help and make your stay comfortable. One should ask for one of the rooms on the second floor with attached terrace. The entire environment with the multiple restaurants on the square and the old church a few steps away made it a very memorable stay.

When I arrived, there was no one at the reception and I had to wait for 15 minutes for the receptionist to show up. The elevator was not working, so I had to carry my bag upstairs - not much of a problem for me, because I am a big guy, but my pregnant wife would certainly not find it comfortable.

Upon returning to the hotel later that night, I discovered that there is a gate and I can't enter the hotel without code. Tried calling them, and they did not respond. Had to wait for 15-20 minutes outside until another guest opened the gate for me.

I'm roaming, so wifi access was important for me. When I got back to the room, I found wifi password but guess what - it wasn't working.

Great location, rooms are more or less what you expect for this price.
