John is truly a wizard of mixing. He took the raw stems of my recording and made the song come to life! He really does have an ear for detail, he'll enhance the sonics to a point where you won't even want it to be mastered. The drum kick slaps right through the mix, the bass pumps through with massive energy, and the guitar just melts your face off (in a good way!). He separated the thud of the kick frequency from the rumble of the low Hertz bass like a surgeon. The stereo image of the guitar is so well-articulated that it's both powerful but also mindful of the vocals. Very well done. In the end, I liked the mix of the first song so much that I asked him to finish the whole album. John is so fun to work with, he actively listens to your input and will do whatever it takes to make the mix what you want it to be. Highly recommend if you want a quality product!

I've been working with John for many years! As a vocalist and songwriter, I return to work with John specifically because of his fined tuned engineering, producing, and mixing skills as well as his array of tools to help me pull off whatever vibe I need for a song. John can get you a "ready-to-release" product whether you are a solo artist, band, or anything in between. As a client who will always return, I highly recommend this guy and his studio.

I always have so much fun recording here! John has an ear for detail and he shares ideas as much as he absorbs and understands yours. The set up is always super easy, and he's always willing to do as many takes as it takes to get your song where you want it! He is a button magician....he will click some things and voila, magically the sound does what you want it to. Definitely recommend recording here whether you are a beginner or a seasoned musician. Knob & Tube is where it's at!
