Incredible pieces and warm, stellar customer service.

Visited this gallery on Sat. March 18th around 2:30 pm. I have followed the work of artist Robert Szot online and was excited to see his paintings in person and to show them to my husband, particularly his monoprint mixed media pieces on paper.
The gallery person manning the computer that day was about the least interested person in selling art I've ever experienced. For the 15 years we have been collecting, primarily works on paper, I have never experienced someone so unhelpful. I approached and asked about Robert's work which, since he currently did not have a show up, should have clued her in that we were at least somewhat serious about buying art. I inquired if the gallery had any of his works on paper, her reply, while barely looking away from the computer screen, was, "I don't think so". Period. Really, how does one go forward from that reply? I mentioned that we would like to see what the gallery did have, there were two smaller works of Roberts hung in a sort of alcove behind her desk, I motioned to those. She nodded her head that way, like go ahead and look, then went back to playing with bright colored horizontal lines on her screen. I asked next if there was other pieces, to which she got up, walked two steps to a bookcase and opened a white 3 ring with a large number of his images. Back to the screen, we didn't know which were sold or what was in house. In the front of the binder was a small monograph of the artists work. We looked at the binder for a bit and I asked her if the gallery still had any copies of the small book. "No". I then asked if Robert was scheduled to have any shows this year at the gallery, her reply, "Not like officially on the schedule, but his work sells really well so we hang it up when we have a gap or get some in. It goes really quick, especially the works on paper for people who want his art but can't afford a painting." Back to those colored lines on the screen. No offer to contact us when work came in, no email list to sign up for. Nothing.
Through all of this I was polite, nice and although a bit shocked, I did not show it. I was not rude or demanding, I was simply an interested customer. We left. Won't go back.
I feel badly for the artists showing here. It does no service to them when the gallery does nothing to help sell the work, even with an active buyer standing in front of them. On Robert's website he does not list any other galleries. I hope that changes and I can find a place to buy one of his amazing works on paper...
