I cannot recommend this recording facility enough!!!! Extremely confident, engineer and producer Samur Khouja is a dream to work with. He is extremely intelligent in all formats of recording editing and production. Anyone that needs to book time in the downtown Los Angeles area or in Los Angeles in general I highly recommend Seahorse Sound Studios. There’s a wide variety of instruments available. Just call ahead and express your needs and desires musically with him and he is an accommodating individual who will help you to the best of his ability!!! (one of the best in the entire city!!!!)

Really unique place, it was perfect for our event! Alexi and the staff did a fantastic job of making us feel welcome and comfortable. At one point the building lost power due to a car accident outside,and the staff actually started running extension cords down the sidewalk to get us online! Customer service far and above the average. I highly recommend working at Seahorse!

Seahorse is one of the top studios on the west coast, and IMHO, one of the best in LA. It can host large orchestral ensembles, solo electronic noise explorations, Eardrum shattering grindcore bands, and anything one can think of in between. I have been documenting and have performed/recorded several times at the three story facility that is Seahorse Sound Studios for over a decade. Each year I have seen amazing musicians, singers, songwriters etc. record and mix records there (Cate Le Bon, Devendra Banhart, Ariel Pink, and Lil Keke) And the best part of Seahorse Sound is the owner and producer/engineer Samur Khouja. He's the hardest working man in noise business, has a one of a kind sensibility and ear for good material, and is my audio twin brother in our A/V duo Conscious Summary. Words don't paint the picture, tell Siri to book you a session at the Seahorse, bring your A game, meet the dream team, and create something timeless.... you never know, it just might change your life...!

Great little small studio turned into a venue the only bad thing about it would have to be that the stairs feel really unsafe as well as not having handle bars to grab onto, so for bands that play here it really sucks if you have big/heavy gear to carry going up and down the unsafe stairs. Other than that a great place to attend or play shows

Cool spot, but we had a session that I sent an input list for. We arrived and nothing was ready. After about an hour waiting, they told me that the mics I had selected weren’t available. Which was fine I guess, but they coulda told me ahead of time. They gave the mics to another studio for another session.
The engineer was clipping the vocalist’s mic with a distressor the whole time while we were tracking. He also kept throwing plugins on while we were tracking (which caused drop outs).

I left the session trying to assume the best, but when I opened the protools session at home i found CLIPPING. All over.
I emailed them about it and they apologized, telling me that they would make up the time.
But when I emailed to reschedule, they never responded.

So at this point, Im pretty unhappy.

If they see this, hopefully they get in touch with me and make this right.
